Dr. Christina Buchter graduated from Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. After a one-year joint emergency/referral and general practice internship in Florida, she practiced at North Shore Animal League on Long Island for seven years and then at Massachusetts Animal Medical Center in the Boston area for five years. She and her family moved back to New York in 2022 to be closer to family and has been practicing locally until joining South Putnam Animal Hospital in September 2024.
From the age of 10, Dr. Buchter knew she wanted to be a veterinarian. She finds the most rewarding part of general practice to be developing trusting relationships with pets and their owners and working together to optimize patient health. Dr. Buchter’s professional interests include internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, and wound management.
In her spare time, Dr. Buchter tries to keep up with her busy family: her husband, two young children, and her dogs Callie, a labrador retriever mix, and Bandit, a young, large, mixed-breed dog. She enjoys baking and amateur photography.
